Spectacular Steetley

This was the first sighting for us of the Northern Lights on this night that was the strongest we’d even seen and that had occurred in a long time. A night that will live long in the memory and went on long into the morning. Opting to head north we decided to go to Steetley Pier and try capture the lights over the disused pier. With a low level of activity upon arrival we got chatting to fellow photographers who had had the same idea as us all the while checking the apps and taking occasional test shots to see when activity levels rose. Things certainly did pick up with colours visible on camera and the pillars visible by eye as white lines dancing across the sky. While other photographers took selfies with the lights further down the beach I jumped in and took a few with the old wooden pier supports sticking out the sand before we moved on and headed for a long night of photography elsewhere.
