Summer At Solly

As many other photographers are I'm not a big fan of a clear blue sky as I find it lacks interest however this night despite it been clear we knew we hadn't been out with the cameras in a while and with a free night we thought why not head out and go somewhere local. We headed out the door and down the road to Saltburn knowing that worst case scenario we'd spend a warm summer's evening walking along the beach and so what if we came away without any nice photos. It was simply nice to be back out and about again having recently broken my big toe and not been able to get a shoe on with the bandaging etc on. The one benefit for me to a lack of cloud is that the golden hour can often mean nice side light so I often aim to fill the frame with as little sky as possible to avoid the clear / uninteresting sky. An easy job when the low tide has left behind pockets of water along the beach perfection for capturing reflections which really aided filling the frame and when walking past I spotted if I got low enough I caught a reflection including the cars of the funicular and the top of the pier building I knew this was something worth taking and so much so it even ended up as June in my 2026 calendar.
