North York Moors

Round The Back

Having been out and about the previous day photographing the farmers bringing in the harvest I headed back to Guisborough from the moor road to go and cook myself some tea and I almost managed to do so. Following a tractor along past Guisborough Hall it indicated and turned right before reaching the town which only meant one thing. The combine and tractors were in the field round the back of the priory combining and leading away from the field I’d photographed numerous times. While I’d photographed this field in fog, snow, sunrises and sunsets actually seeing and capturing it at harvest time had so far eluded me. I spent an hour or so that evening watching and photographing them combining the field and returned the next evening in the hope that they’d baled it. As you can see from this photo they had and I even dragged Laura along to photograph them too (Not that you can see her). One of the main problems we have with both of us doing photography is constantly worrying about getting in each other’s shots or fighting for space in smaller locations. This wasn’t quite an issue this evening as she is actually in this shot but I hid her behind the closest bales so you couldn’t see her! I did such a good job that she even text me asking where I had gone as she panicked that I’d left her and gone home!
