02 - October 2025
October is a bit of a transition month for us as we move from trading outdoor at country fairs to indoor at craft fairs ready for the run up to the dreaded C word. That dread C word been Christmas and we attended our first Christmas fair of the year at Hutchinson Hobbs Farm Shop which was the first fair we ever traded at back in October 2023. You can even see a picture of us and our stall from this fair over on the events page. For a lot of traders October is the calm before the storm before the craziness of Christmas takes over. We took this opportunity to take a break and booked to go and spend a week over in Wales. Having both worked 7 day weeks the week prior with Hutchinson Hobbs following full weeks in our full-time jobs we looked forward to a Monday morning for a change as although it meant the 4 hour drive to Wales it was to start the holiday.
Unfortunately the holiday didn’t get off to the best start as having loaded the car ready to set off we obviously hadn’t shut one of the doors right when unloading the night before resulting in a flat battery and a car that wouldn’t start. After a booster pack was kindly brought to us and battery charged we belatedly set off across the country. Typically our holidays tend to revolve around photography and are pretty full on however this time we both needed to recharge our batteries and decided instead to enjoy the break and slow down a little. Flat grey skies were what we were given for most of the week which helped us to stick to the plan and instead we enjoyed visiting places without the sole focus to capture photos.
We still managed to visit several locations while in Wales such as South Stack and Penmon Point lighthouses, Llanwrst Cottage, Conwy Castle and the magnificent Aber Falls among others so keep an eye out for some new posts from us from Wales as they’ll start filtering through soon I’m sure! Having a family holiday definitely helped us both recharge the batteries and also to slow down and also took us to Chester Zoo, Llanberis Lake Railway and Anglesey Sea Zoo that we might not have gone too ordinarily (although we did still take the cameras of course).
Looking forward to November we have 14 days of trading with the stall, a few nights away in the Lake District to celebrate Laura’s birthday and a first visit to Durham’s Lumiere festival to look forward to so there’s no rest for the wicked!
