The Jacobite
As a huge Potterhead (Harry Potter fan) this was one of the places I made sure got planned into our trip. The iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct is beautiful in it’s own right but I will always see it with a Ford Anglia flying about with Ron and Harry in it chasing the train. Now they were chasing it because they missed it but there was no danger of us doing that. We were there over an hour before the train was due to make sure we got a prime location and actually got parked! We knew the viaduct got busy when the Jacobite steam train was crossing but we certainly did not expect what we saw. As hundreds of people littered the hillside and it got busier and busier as the train time got closer we sat there with our tripods and cameras ready and waiting as people came and went realising we were there and not going in front of our cameras to get in our shot (although some did require some kind words). While we got no nice light or amazing conditions at least I can say I’ve been and seen a steam train go over it and not only that but I have this photo and some pictures of me there in my Harry Potter hat and jumper to prove it.
