Lochan at You

Early on in our first Scotland photography trip we headed (as many photographers do) to the west and the stunning Glencoe on our way to the Isle of Skye. Camping at the nearby and perfectly located Red Squirrel campsite we explored as much of the amazing beauty around us in the limited time that we had. One night we headed to the pictured Glencoe Lochan and did the circular route round the lochan. Although only a shortish walk it seemed to take us ages to get around it as we kept stopping and taking it all in or taking photos. It certainly helped that we had some lovely still water allowing us to capture reflections in the water but our favourite shot was from this jetty. The jetty added both foreground and a leading line out across the lochan leading you towards the imposing pap of Glencoe in the background. As dynamic light kept coming in and out we kept taking it in turns to take photos as the scene kept continuously changing all the while moving as little as possible as the jetty wasn’t the most solid and not only would it potentially blur a photo but also it could ruin the reflections we were enjoying so much.
