String to my Bow

As a fan of long exposure photography this location had been on my photography bucket list from the moment I’d first seen a photo of it. Surrounded by lots of dramatic weathered rocks that have been eroded by the tide over years and years the main sea stack is named Bow Fiddle Rock due to its similarities to a fiddle. During a one night stay nearby we actually visited here 3 times, this photo having come from the first when we went for sunset and received around 30 seconds worth of light hitting the rock in the couple of hours we were there. Thankfully I was set up, ready and waiting so when the 30 seconds of light did arrive I was ready to snap away before the sun headed back behind the cloud not to be seen again that night. This was also actually a risky shot to get. As you can see the rocks were covered in seaweed making them slippy as the incoming tide splashed both over and between the rocks we were stood on threatening to cut us off from the beach if we stayed too long. I got the hint after a while when I turned round and Laura had already gone back to the beach as she was worried about not been able to get back. A few more long exposures later and a few jumps between rocks we’d made it back to the beach safe, sound and feeling happy.
