Great Grey

During our Wales trip in the summer of 2024 we had mostly clear blue skies and temperatures in the high 20s and a couple of days hitting 30 so the mountain mood of Snowdonia was nowhere to be seen. The sweltering heat of our tent was unbearable so we spent some time scrolling trying to find things to do to pass the time before retiring to a cooler tent later in the day. We ended up opting the visit the Owls Trust in Llandudno and it turned out it wasn’t just us that was feeling the heat however with many of the owls taking shelter at the back of their enclosures in the shade and avoiding their perches. This Great Grey Owl was one of the exceptions however thankfully and almost appeared to be sunbathing catching the light on its beautiful rounded face as we watched on. After a while it pecked at its plumage and one feather was left removed from the coat however still intertwined adding some extra interest to the photo. We’d like to thank the Owl’s Trust for their hospitality as the founder showed us around and even took us into some of the enclosures with the owls etc. so if you’re ever near I’d 100% recommend popping in to visit them and support the work that they do.
