Lurking

Bempton Cliffs is a beautiful area near Flamborough known for its visiting puffins and hordes of gannets. Unfortunately I was struggling to locate any puffins, having walked along parts of the cliffs and yet to catch a glimpse of the small, bright-beaked birds I opted to take a seat and have my packed lunch. After a while I’d noticed quite a crowd had appeared nearby and having finished my sandwiches I went to investigate and found it was because they’d spotted the puffins among the cliff-side. I spent ages sat there watching them through my long lens and thankfully this puffin which had been lurking behind the cliffs and various plants popped its head out into the light for me to grab this shot. Who knows, maybe it was hoping I’d left some of my sandwiches?
