Perched

Having spotted that the National Trust had been giving away free family passes in certain newspapers we couldn’t say no to a visit to Fountains Abbey during daffodil season. Having left the visitor centre to head down towards the abbey I opted to take the more scenic route and head down a path I’d never been down before. Having headed through a small number of trees I stumbled across a bird hide which was a hive of activity with bluetits, blackbirds, peacocks and robins all flying around. We spent a while sat watching and I noticed a lot of the birds taking the same perched position on this branch before heading to a bird feeder so I set up shop with a composition of this curved branch and simply waited before this beautiful Robin landed on it allowing me to capture this photo of it which I certainly appreciate as normally if I have a camera in hand robins are never to be seen or won’t stay remotely near and if I don’t have the camera they taunt me and spend time nearby.
