Snack Time
This photo is a bucket list shot for many photographers and we planned a whole welsh roadtrip around this moment in order to stand the best change of capturing this as possible. Typically the best time to capture puffins carrying sand eels in their beaks is towards the end of June when their pufflings have hatched and they are making round trips out to sea to bring food back to their young. This was certainly a hard day on the knees for me having spent a lot of the day crouching in order to try get an isolated puffin against a blurred background without spending the several thousands of pounds that some wildlife photographers spend in order to get the beautiful blurred background. There certainly was some moneys worth of camera equipment on that island that day for certain and there was some serious lens envy going on but in this case I was more than happy enough with what I produced with my £700 lens and a whole lot of crouching.
