Christmas Cobbles

This is how we spent the first part of our night on my birthday / New Years Eve 2023. As a birthday present Laura booked for us to go away and stay in a Shepherds hut near Haworth. The log fire and cosy hut was lovely but we also ventured out and spent some of it with camera in hand in the pouring rain while others were filling the local pubs and enjoying the festivities. I must say I wasn’t bothered one bit, I’m most happy with camera in hand and the idea of busy pubs with no room to move around or speak is becoming less and less appealing with every passing year. What was however appealing to me was photographing the outside of this pub with their wreaths and the church next door adorning its steps with Christmas trees and to also have a red telephone box was just the icing on the cake. The rain that was falling did make life trickier, especially when I wanted to shoot from low down to capture the lights reflecting on the wet cobbles but it was worth the fight with the elements (or at least I think so).
