Rainbow Desolation
On our way over to the Dales for a couple of nights of camping and photography we decided to head to Bolton Abbey on the way. Having had our dinner in the car park we headed to the valley of desolation waterfall enjoying the walk along the river and between the trees knowing there was a waterfall at the end of the walk for us. While typically overcast conditions suit waterfall photography conditions it was a roasting hot day and wearing shorts and t shirts it seemed more appealing to go for a paddle in the water than to take photos in the harsh light. Upon arrival it turned out the harsh sun was on our backs and when we got closer it turned out the light hitting the splashing waterfall was creating a mini rainbow. It goes to show that while conditions may not be ideal or what you’d planned but there is always something to photograph.
